The Long Awaited Return of the Genius.

After a short (long) hiatus, I'm back to discuss the wrestling scene. A lot has happened and a lot has changed since my last entry. Some for the better and some for the ever-loving worse. After the TLC PPV on Sunday, let's take a look around the WWE to see what they've done well and how they have failed. I will also take a lot at some things that i would like to see return or take place.

Done Well:

- John Cena is not the only "face of the WWE." C.M. Punk has established himself over the last few months as a tremendous wrestler, entertainer, and communicator. They gave him another chance with the belt and he has run with it. Thankfully, he has saved us all from the boring, horrendous promos that Alberto Del Rio made us listen to. I guess they don't teach Charisma in FCW anymore.

- Your new U.S. Champion - Zack Ryder. WWWYKI. Finally. Enough said.

- Speaking of younger talent, Ziggler, Bryan, Ryder, and Cody Rhodes have all been impressive. They have shown great desire to main event and have come a long, long way in the last few months. I am especially impressed with Bryan's intensity and Rhodes' overall improvement in every aspect of his character. Plus, Claudio Castignolli is in FCW and will hopefully appear on the main roster soon.

- John Cena. Taking him out of the main event for a while is going to help the WWE in the long run. He doesn't need the title to be loved or hated and he certainly doesn't need the title going into Wrestlemania against The Rock. He can help carry a show and put on good matches without being the center piece.

- The comeback video for January 4th. I like when they build suspense with mystery videos (unlike Kane's return video). Who is it? Undertaker? Jericho? Chris is known for his video comebacks. Undertaker normally shows up around The Royal Rumble to build up a feud to defend his Wrestlemania streak. I can tell you it's NOT Brock Lesner and NOT Dave Batista, contrary to internet rumors. And no, for the love of god, it's not Sting.

Epic Fail:

- I've got a great idea. Let's invest time in Wade Barrett again. What we'll do is have him destroy a ton of opponents, including D-Bry, only to get to Randy Orton and...lose. Orton didn't need the win there. He will be a main-eventer until he retires now. Barrett could have re-established himself with a victory over Orton at TLC. A wasted opportunity to do something good for the business and Smackdown.

- Daniel Bryan cashed in his MitB briefcase and won the title. Don't get me wrong, I love Bryan and think he deserves the belt. My fear is that WWE management didn't have enough faith in Bryan to main event a Wrestlemania match. As excited as i was for Bryan when he won, I just have a feeling it's going to be a use-it-and-lose-it scenario for him. I could be wrong, but when does that ever happen?

- The Diva division. 90% of the WWE Divas cannot wrestle. Some are making improvements like Kelly Kelly and Alicia Fox. However, the 10% that actually CAN wrestle make Chyna look like a Disney princess.

- The Tag Team Division. Well.. what division? Let's just put together multiple single's wrestlers and let them win and hold the tag titles. The hell with actual tag teams like the Uso's and... well, the Uso's. I guess they're the only real tag team. Anyone else miss the days of The Rockers, Hart Foundation, Demolition, Legion of Doom, Natural Disasters, Strike Force and the British Bulldogs? Tag team wrestling is a lost art and it doesn't look like the WWE is in any hurry to find it.

- Kevin Nash. Yep.

Make These Things Happen:

- Bring back the Hardcore Title. The title may not have been the most prestigious belt to win, but hardcore wrestling is not dead. Remember when the 24/7 rule was in effect? Hardcore matches are different, entertaining, and unpredictable. It would add another element to the WWE programming. Although, they may have to go from PG to PG-13, so it probably will never happen. Gosh darn-it to heck.

- Have matches on RAW that last longer than 15 minutes. Punk gets matches that last this long from time to time. However, most of the roster gets 5-7 minutes for a match. I know, I know. The average wrestling fan today has the attention span of 3 year old and pretty much hates technical or chain wrestling. But seriously, 5 minute matches? What about a best 2-out-of-3 falls match between Ziggler and Ryder? How about an Ironman match on RAW? GOOD stipulations will make matches longer AND more entertaining. No one wants to see a Vicki-on-a-pole-match. NO ONE.

- Factions. Not 1 faction, like Nexus. How about feuding factions? How about a FACE faction. When's the last time we saw a successful "good guy" faction? DX? Factions can make for very entertaining television when done properly. If done incorrectly, you get the Spirit Squad...

So, there's my opinion (facts) on a few things happening in the WWE Universe. Gah, i hate that term. I know, you guys are excited to be fed my wrestling knowledge again. It's like Christmas came early. Or whatever holiday you might celebrate. I'll return in a few days to bestow more of my amazing insights into the wrestling world. Until then, be jealous.

How would you draft?

It's that time a year again. It's "Time to shake things up," as Vince McMahon would say. It's obvious the draft was pushed up in a hurry due to Edge's retirement. That leaves Smackdown without a champion and short another main-eventer. So, how do you expect the draft to play out? Obviously, some big names are going to have to be shuffled around. Either that or the WWE is going to have to put it's faith in a mid-card or young wrestler and hope they can run with it. Maybe someone like Dolph Ziggler or John Morrison?

That being said, i do expect that a big name or 2 be moved. Smackdown needs some help and RAW has some main-eventers. In addition, i think it might be time for some people to step up. There is no reason that Kane or The Big Show shouldn't be able to main event or carry a title again. The WWE should be able to turn to veteran form champions in times like this to help bail them out. But they haven't, won't and can't. It's still a "Big Man" company, but if the fan can't see 72 abs and every vein in your body, you're not the right type of "Big Man."

So, who goes where? It's really hard to say, especially since the draft is being rushed. It was actually supposed to be delayed until after Summerslam at last report. It looks as if the WWE has hit the panic button here with Edge leaving. And... well, they should. Edge isn't going to be replaceable in-ring and in feuds. His ring savy, crowd control, performer skill and overall charisma is Hall of Fame material. That doesn't just get replaced. If someone could replace that internally, they would already be main eventing. The talent pool in the WWE is thinner than Jessica Alba.

Main event wise, RAW has John Cena, The Miz, C.M. Punk, Randy Orton, John Morrison, Dolph Ziggler and HHH. Morrison is a stretch, but he is in the main event for the next PPV and has been in Elimination Chamber main events as well. The problem is that every main-eventer i mentioned is in a feud with another main-eventer already on RAW with the exception of Dolph Ziggler. So, do these feuds get prematurely ended? Does Ziggler get sent back to Smackdown after just arriving on RAW?

I feel like a main-event face has to go to Smackdown, whether they are currently a face or if a wrestler has to switch. Dolph turning on Vicki has been hinted at in the past and could set him up to face Del Rio as a face. Does RAW really want to lose any of it's other stars of feuds? They've actually done a better job than usual in building some of these feuds. It would be a shame to watch them end prematurely.

But what do you think? Who would you draft to what show? Give me your lists! Your ideas! Post your comments in our "The Wrestling Genius" group on facebook!

I don't know how the WWE fills the hole that Edge left with his retirement. I don't know if they can. But i do know one thing. The WWE could use one person now more than ever. He "saved us" once and he could do it again.

Save us, Chris.

The Wrestling World Has Changed.

Wrestling all around has had a tough week. I know we've had discussions about these topics in our Facebook group, but these are the types of issues that deserve further discussion. I'll throw some random notes in at the end too. Also, please feel free to invite any friends to the group. I enjoy the discussion.

Edge has officially retired from wrestling. He will never been medically cleared to wrestle again. I wonder what that's like. I wonder what it's like to be told that you medically can no longer do the one thing you love and know. The one thing you wake up for everyday. The one thing you've spent your entire life doing, learning and achieving. He said it himself, he knew he was wrestling on borrowed time. I doubt that makes it any easier though. Adam Copeland was one of the biggest and best the WWE has ever employed. They didn't produce Edge. Adam made Edge. The Rated R Superstar was his doing. Only a few get to make their own characters and angles and be successful. Stone Cold, Hulk Hogan and The Rock come to mind. You can add Edge to that list as well.

His speech on RAW was sincere, to the point and emotional. It was nice that JR was there that night and that Edge could personally thank him for recruiting him 14 years ago. He explained everything to the fans and made sure we knew it wasn't a work or an angle with his tears. In a wrestling world where stars a few and far between, it's hard to watch one walk away so early. It's hard to watch one walk away when the company needs him so bad. It might be hard to watch, but i am glad he is doing it. Edge made the toughest decision of his life on Monday and yet, maybe it was the easiest. He doesn't want to spend the rest of his life in a wheel chair or hospital bed. If anything, he is grateful the WWE had him go for tests twice so that he knew how serious it actually was. He'll miss the cheers, the boos, the pyro and the adrenaline rush from performing. He'll miss wrestling and it will miss him. I don't think he'll leave the WWE. He is an excellent on screen character that i think the WWE will want to utilize and i think Edge will still want to be involved. Even the WWE website mentioned a possible GM role for him

Edge, if anything, is an inspiration now. He achieved his dream in life and did it at the highest level possible. His last match in the WWE was a successful World Title defense at Wrestlemania. There aren't many that get to go out on top. There aren't many that get to retire as a champion. Edge did. I couldn't be happier for him. Thank you, Edge. Thank you, Adam.

Here is the video of Edge's retirement speech from RAW. After the speech, there are some videos and awesome match clips highlighting his career. I did not make this video. All credit goes to the creator:

Another bit of news that hit the wrestling world was Indy wrestler Larry Sweeney died this week at the age of 29. Now, if you're not familiar with the Indy scene or Ring of Honor then you may not be familiar with Larry's work. I've had the pleasure of seeing him work numerous times for IWC. He was a phenomenal character wrestler. He could do a gimmick match as good as the likes of Chris Candido or Santino Marella. He also had the skill and ability to put on an entertaining wrestling match. At first report, Larry's cause of death was self inflicted. He has had a history of mental illness and was thought to be recovering. It appears he had everyone fooled. He was at the top of the Ring of Honor talent and angle pool while managing Chris Hero. He left ROH in 2009 because of his mental illness. It was reported at this time that he was actually holding wrestling matches on cement in back alleys. He returned to ROH part-time with the help and support of his friends. Unfortunately, something was still wrong and now the wrestling world has lost another. My condolences go out to the friends and family of course. I know i'll miss "Sweet and Sour" Larry Sweeney.

Here is a video of some of Larry's work. Again, i didn't make this. The credit goes to the creator:

Quick news/opinions:

- I watched TNA Impact last night for the first time in a few months. What an absolute train wreck. It's unfortunate to see talent like AJ Styles, Chris Sabin, Alex Shelly, Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe be wasted. TNA either hits a home run or strikes out. Right now, they are 0-50 at the plate.

- The WWE has back to back shows in June scheduled to be three hours. This is before Summerslam and is right around when the WWE likes to hold it's draft. I, personally, love the draft. I like how each show earns their pick by winning matches. The WWE hasn't said anything about a draft, though.

- Anyone else miss JR on commentary? I've had it with Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler fighting when they should be calling the match. Either be characters or be commentators. JR and Josh Matthews would suit me just fine. Huge Josh Matthews fan, by the way. Can't wait till he takes Cole's job.

- Only 351 days until The Rock vs John Cena! ...yay...

- Sin Cara looked fairly impressive in his debut even with Primo messing up the One Man Spanish Fly finisher. Sin Cara does his high spots with ease and precision. I look forward to his future matches and hope the WWE uses him properly.

- Yes, the video with the person flicking the head off the doll was for Awesome Kong. The WWE divas devision is gonna be pancaked. I hope they make her wear a snow suit. No one wants to see any of that..

- C.M Punk > Randy Orton

If you get a chance, be sure to watch Smackdown. I can't believe i just said that. Anyways, Edge will be forfeiting the title and it should definitely be interesting to watch. You will also get to find out who takes Edge's spot at PPV title match.

Really, WWE? Really? Really?

Wrestlemania is behind us and so is the RAW that followed. I don't even know where to begin. I will channel my "inner Miz" for this...

A good couple months were spent building up Daniel Bryan. I don't mind him losing his belt. I don't mind him losing matches. However, the United States Title was not even defended at Wrestlemania. It was bumped to the pre-show, made a lumberjack match and then turned into a non-title battle royal. So, instead of making the US title worthwhile at Wrestlemania, we had an 8 man tag match that people couldn't care less about with The Corre. To top it all off, the actual title match took place on RAW and it was a squash by Sheamus. Really, WWE? Really?

Speaking of the Corre... nice match. Another 2 minute match and the Corre LOST. The Tag Team Champions, the Intercontinental Champion and a brute of a man get destroyed. Those titles were also not defended Wrestlemania. How do you not have all of your titles defended at the biggest pay per view of the year? And, assuming you don't for whatever absurd reason, why would you make them mean nothing? Really, WWE? Really?

The Snooki match was all of 10 seconds. I was happy she was there because it gave WWE prime exposure all across entertainment. But... 10 seconds? Did Dolph Ziggler even hit a move? And, again, we had this instead of the US title, Tag Team titles and IC title being defended. Don't misinterpret me, though. Dolph Ziggler and John Morrison deserve to be at Wrestlemania. I find them both entertaining in the ring and both are on the brink of breaking that "Main Event" barrier. So.. this was the best way to use them? Really, WWE? Really?

The people finally get what they want! They people finally get their dream match! It's all about what the people want and how we're finally going to get it from the WWE. The main event of all main events is set! Everyone is all fired up for The Rock vs. John Cena!... in a full calendar year. This entire thing was a set up for something a year away? Really, WWE? Really?

However, the WWE did some things well, too.

The ending to the Orton/C.M. Punk match was nice. The entire match was good and it had an excellent finish. It is nice to see that the feud is continuing, too. This was one of only a few good moments from Wrestlemania and this past RAW.

A surprisingly entertaining match was the Cody Rhodes/Rey Mysterio match. It was the right length of time and helps build the rivalry and Cody Rhodes more. Kudos to Rey for choosing to work with Rhodes and trying to help jump start his career.

The match the WWE got 100% right was Undertaker/HHH. I know everyone is talking about it and it did, indeed, steal the show. It was an old-school, brutal, beat-down of a match with a lot of exciting near falls and OMG moments. The ending was superb and the after-match carting of The Undertaker to the dressing room made it feel like HHH did achieve something even though he didn't get the win.

So, what do we have to look forward to?

The Miz and John Cena will continue their feud. If The Miz would actually have a match and beat John Cena legit, i would be more interested. It's been all sucker punches and blindsides. That's all good to help build the feud and The Miz's character, but eventually he has to win clean or lose clean. I also wouldn't mind if someone killed Alex Riley. He's only slowing down The Miz's growth.

Randy Orton and C.M. Punk will continue their feud as well. I am looking forward to how this culminates at the next PPV and to see what kind of brutal match they will have. It's been entertaining enough and C.M. Punk has really risen as a star in the company. Watch your back, Miz.

Alberto Del Rio will challenge Edge at the next PPV as well. I was actually kind of happy Del Rio didn't win at Wrestlemania. Edge deserves a huge win and title defense like that at the biggest PPV of the year. I would expect Del Rio to win the title at the next PPV, though. If Del Rio would get rid of his ring announcer, i could probably be a fan. I hate the ring announcer with the fire of a thousand suns.

We also get the best, unbelievable, most wanted, super-duper, insane, magical, unprecedented, never before seen, blockbuster, epic, high-profile, main event in the history of mankind... in one year. Yep, John Cena vs. Dwayne "Don't call me The Rock" Johnson settle their heated rivalry in just under 365 days. Can you feel the excitement? The Electricity? I can't. I don't give a
crap.

Here is a highlight video of the newest WWE superstar, Sin Cara. He went by the name Mistico. HHH recruited him. He's pretty amazing. Check it out:

Wrestlemania Predictions... But Not Mine!

I am excited for Wrestlemania and RAW as a fan.

I can honestly say I haven't stated anything like that in a long time without actually attending a show. The WWE has me interested as a fan. Not just as an analyst. Not just as the "Genius." As a fan.

It's obvious that i enjoy wrestling. The fact that i spend time blogging and analyzing a business that i have no connection or affiliation with is proof of that. But the things about wrestling that interest me are a little different than what might interest others. I love being able to tell where the story or angle is going to go (Genius, remember?). I love watching talent grow and develop into a superstar. I also love watching people not reach the potential that they should have. I love seeing that an Indy wrestler that i watched in an gymnasium in Elizabeth, PA is now a multi-time former world champion. I love the physicality and athleticism of wrestling. I love the entertainment value it brings with it. But most of all, I love the BUSINESS of wrestling. However, i haven't been a fan in a very long time. I haven't LOVED the actual product as a fan. Until recently.

This road to Wrestlemania has me looking forward to RAW on Monday every week. It even has me watching Smackdown on occasion, which is unbelievable. Recently, I find myself watching the show as a fan and feeling cloudy on what the outcome might be. 3 weeks ago, I thought for sure John Cena would walk out of Atlanta the champ. Now, I'm not so sure. This new found "fandom" has clouded my genius abilities a bit. It could even be that, for once, I don't want to know ahead of time. I want to be surprised like every other fan. I attended RAW last week and enjoyed it as a fan. The show wasn't all that great, to be honest. It was damn entertaining live though. I found myself cheering for C.M. Punk and John Cena and HHH. Hell, I don't even really like HHH. I found myself being frustrated when Michael Cole was ripping into Lawler yet again. It felt... personal. I was caught up in the moment and it was impressive to watch these professionals do their job and do it well. They have their own mystique.

The Wrestlemania card is shaping up to be a very strong show. The Rock will be present for the entire 4 hours. That'll be entertaining itself. However, the WWE has me caring about the storyline and matches, too. I want to know what happens between Cena, The Miz and The Rock. The Randy Orton and C.M. Punk feud is definitely my favorite and i expect it to be one of the best wrestling matches of the night. HHH and The Undertaker are 2 superstars I don't particularly care for but I think their match at Wrestlemania could steal the show. Is it Del Rio's time to shine? Even the under card looks entertaining.

This would be the blog that would contain my predictions for Wrestlemania. Instead, I am going to let you guys voice your opinions on who you think will win each match. Everyday, i will post a poll in "The Wrestling Genius" Facebook group and you all pick the winner. Post comments in the Facebook group (http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=group_142956149101477&ap=1). We are one week away from Wrestlemania and i want to hear your thoughts. Your predictions. Your opinions. Of course, i know you love hearing my predictions and opinions. How could you not? But this time, I want to give you all the floor. Let your voice be heard.

Make it happen.

Wrestler... Or Performer?

There is a difference.

So, my last blog sparked some interesting conversation with a friend as it relates to wrestlers. In the blog, i claimed that The Rock wasn't a good wrestler but was a great performer. I was called out because The Rock, in fact, is a great wrestler. We just don't get to see it. The WWE had The Rock perform the same "gimmick" moves every match because the fans go nuts for them. Forget about the fact that the "Five Knuckle Shuffle" and "People's Elbow" are ridiculous wrestling moves. They are entertaining. They are a signature of that particular wrestler and fans identify with those types of moves. They are just as signature as the finishing maneuvers.

I do not retract my previous statement. The Rock is a terrible wrestler. Whether it was because of a lack of talent or because it was creative control by the WWE is irrelevant. What we saw was poor wrestling but great performances by The Rock. Great entertainment. He could steal the entire show and only perform three or four actual wrestling moves. Charisma takes you far in the wrestling world. It always has and it always will. You have to have talent. Ability. But you don't have to be the best wrestler to be an unbelievable performer or to be successful. There are also rare cases when a wrestler shows both great wrestling skills and performing skills at the same time. John Morrison is not one of those cases. Neither is Sheamus.

So, this whole conversation started a brainstorm on my part. Being a "Wrestling Genius" and all, this happens quite frequently, as you would expect. I created two top 10 lists: Performers and Wrestlers. The lists are created based on wrestlers that i have seen live. These are also MY lists. They are not the be-all-end-all of lists, although they should be. This is personal opinion. These lists also include wrestlers outside of the WWE.

Wrestlers:
1. Bret "The Hitman" Hart (WWE)
2. Christ Benoit (RIP)
3. Kurt Angle (TNA)
4. Chris Hero (ROH/Indy)
5. C.M. Punk (WWE)
6. Chris Jericho (WWE)
7. Christopher Daniels (ROH/Indy)
8. Mr. Perfect (RIP)
9. Alex Shelley (TNA)
10. Chris Sabin (TNA)

Performers:
1. Shawn Michaels (WWE)
2. Hulk Hogan (TNA)
3. The Rock (WWE)
4. Ric Flair (TNA)
5. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin (WWE)
6. Kurt Angle (TNA)
7. Chris Jericho (WWE)
8. C.M. Punk (WWE)
9. John Cena (WWE)
10. A.J. Styles (TNA)

So, what do you think? Give me your lists. If 10 wrestlers and 10 performers is too hard, give me 5 of each. I understand that not everyone is a "Wrestling Genius" like myself. It would be foolish on my part to hold you to my own standards. Post your lists or discuss mine on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=group_142956149101477&ap=1). Also, feel free to find me on Twitter (@unamiable09) anytime.

Q&A and Quick Hits

First, i would like to thank Alissa again for providing "The Wrestling Genius" with it's first guest fan blog. It was received well and i hope to have more guest blogs in the future. In addition, i may have some regular bloggers besides myself contributing to "The Wrestling Genius" in the near future. I look forward to releasing more information on that as it develops.

Second, sorry for not updating the blog recently. I had to catch up on all things wrestling. I asked on Facebook for some questions and received some via private message especially after this past weeks RAW. I am keeping names anonymous. In the future, if you would like your name posted with your question, just let it be known.

Q&A's:

Q: Is The Rock going to wrestle at Wrestlemania?

A: Nah, he's done wrestling. Thank god. He was a good performer but a terrible wrestler in my opinion. He will get involved though. He will probably hit a Rock Bottom or the people's elbow for the fans, but that's it. No matches. Check out quick hits below for additional information on The Rock.

Q: Is JBL back with the WWE too?

A: Unfortunately, no. He had a hell of a promo on RAW. I love seeing the stars come out around Wrestlemania. JBL is retired. He actually said so himself on Twitter. He lives on an island. Would you want to travel and wrestle if you lived on an island?

Q: Are Edge and Christian back together?

A: Again, no. They have a tag match scheduled for tonight's Smackdown (spoiler alert!). They won't be a tag team in the future. Be thankful for that, too. The WWE could give 2 shits about tag team wrestling so both talents would be wasted if they did become a team. Kazoo theme songs again would kick major ass though.

Q: Will Chris Jericho make a Wrestlemania appearance?

A: I am starting to feel awfully negative here but i'd have to say no. He has way too much going on now with Fozzy, his book and now Dancing With the Stars. I really don't see him showing up, although i would love it. There isn't an angle where he would fit, either.

Q: Will The Miz keep his WWE championship at Wrestlemania?

A: I know in the past i have said Cena will win, but i am changing my mind. I think The Miz WILL keep his WWE title and shock the WWE universe. He made a bold statement last week on RAW and i think The Miz is the only one actually focused on what's important. Plus, i don't see both major championships changing hands at Wrestlemania. I do expect Del Rio to defeat Edge and win the World Title.

Quick Hits:

This is just some quick information I've come across related to recent and upcoming WWE situations. Enjoy.

- HHH is scheduled for his IN RING return this coming Monday at RAW. However, as of now, it won't be televised. He is scheduled for the local dark match which is HHH, Cena, and Orton VS. Punk, Miz and Sheamus. This is also the dark match advertised for Pittsburgh's RAW the following week.

- The Rock is scheduled to make a LIVE appearance on the RAW following Wrestlemania. I personally didn't expect that to happen especially since he has a tough time making it to RAW live now. Cena wins because of the satellite comments, by the way.

- Again, JBL will NOT be returning to the WWE. It was nice to see him for his one-time only deal and i am extremely happy that he kept his shirt on.

- Trish Stratus will be live on RAW this coming week as she is scheduled to face Vicki Guerrero. Unfortunately, Trish will also keep her shirt on.

That's the last of it for now. Thank you for your questions and keep them coming! Contact me via Facebook under The Wrestling Genius group or private message me. Feel free to text questions to me if you have my number.

Just as a quick note, i will be attending RAW when it comes to Pittsburgh on March 21st. My blog following that event will contain my final predictions for Wrestlemania. I can sense your anticipation.

Pussy Ass Bitches (2-28-11)

This is the first guest blog here at "The Wrestling Genius." This one comes to us from Alissa. I'll be back in a few days with my next blog. Until then, here's what Alissa had to say:

As we all know, last night was epic and unepic all within itself.  Firstly, Triple H: He should not have been talking at the beginning of the show. He talked about nothing and it was an annoying way to start the show. He may have been in the WWE for 16 years, but I personally think that it is time for him to retire, or at least back down and not look so creepy on the screen. I understand that he is intimidating and wants to end The dead man’s streak, but I would personally like to see the newer guys fight. With all the talk that he is doing, he better put up one hell of a fight at Wrestle Mania.

Which brings me to King Sheamus: I was very happy to see him tackle Triple H during his speech, however King Sheamus’ legs are way too white for the public eye to see. He should not have taken on such a large man because he had the drop coming to him when Triple H annihilated him against the announcers table (Which made Jerry “The King” Lawler’s face priceless, haha). Which leads me into the fight with Michael Cole. His fight was completely pointless against Jerry “The King” Lawler. First of all, he got someone else to fight The King, and all that Cole said was “What do you think about that Lawler?” Then he repeated it over and over again, which just goes to show that he has no smack talk good enough to actually bring it. I personally do not like The King, however it was wrong of Cole to think that he is the shit when he really isn’t. They could have cut that completely out of life. I would rather listen to Triple H smack talk Cena (Who is one of my favorites) than listen to Michael Cole who looks like a chipmunk. I understand that The King is trying to make a comeback, but let him be. We all know that he is not going to win at Wrestle Mania, but let’s at least give him the ability to try. Bringing in Jack Swagger to do your dirty work, Michael Cole, that was a pussy move.

I know I am jumping out of line here, but that also leads me to The Miz. The Miz is such a pussy when he went off on John Cena. I am so glad that John Cena made the bet with The Miz about firing Alex Riley. I don’t know much about Alex Riley, but I hear that he is worthless, so in the end that whole situation worked out.  The Miz totally could have fought in a suit. He totally could have taken John Cena. However, the dumbass had Alex fight Cena himself. So dumb. I liked the fact that they were in the cage. I disliked how The Miz said he was not going to interfere and he ended up interfering. Taking pictures of John Cena was uncalled for. However John Cena retaliated by taking a picture (on The Miz’s phone) of Alex Riley, which I find a little funny. And as a side note, I just want to say that I LOVE how John Cena wrestles in jean shorts. But anyways, the fight wasn’t bad. Alex Riley was afraid of heights which gave Cena an advantage, however Cena did not take the advantage correctly. There were so many opportunities that Cena could have just hopped over the cage or pushed the door open. Despite the fact that they wanted more money and a “better” fight, it was past eleven and I was already tired of watching the show since it was quite boring. The Miz took a chair and tried beating Cena down like an animal. The Miz is just crazy. He is NOT awesome and he needs to shut his mouth. I believe that he is all talk and no play (which he displayed by making his poor assistant fight for his own job). Meanwhile, I really hope that The Miz fails due to his lack of help from assistants. He should not have had the place in the commentators chair and The Miz just needs to learn how to fight his own battles. I would like to see the cage again but I would like to see a better fight.

I unfortunately happened to miss the fight with Randy Orton. Needless to say, I love him. He, to me, is the greatest. I believe that he is fighting a Nexus member every week in order to see if C. M. Punk will have his fellow Nexus members with him at Wrestlemania or not. Needless to say, Randy won the first fight, leaving the Nexus member out for a long time. So, we still have yet to see where this goes. I have faith in Randy.

The fights between the divas wasn't as entertaining last night as they usually are. One girl, however, did hit the floor outside the ring. That was pretty decent. I dislike the Bella twins or whatever their names are. They are sneaky cheaters, and I feel that if you are going to be in the profession, fight your own fights. They are caddy and I like the other tag team better. I like the blonde fighter, she’s a good one to watch. But the twins, they need to step up their game. Eve was commentating last night and said she would like to fight the Bella twins one on one. I agree with Eve, I would like to see a match like that where they step out of the tag team fighting.

I suppose I shall move onto The Rock. I am glad to see that The Rock is back. However, I dislike the fact that he is back via “Live” video. Uhh what the hell? Why can’t he be there live and not over a damn camera. Meanwhile, I do not feel that he was even live. It was pre recorded, obviously, and I just feel that if “his blood is WWE” and that he “was born into WWE, that he IS WWE,” then he needs TO BE AT THE WWE. It is one Monday night, and people would pay to see him. I know that I would. Meanwhile, he dissed Cena, and some of the other guys. He delivered his speech well, he’s a good speaker I must admit. I just can’t wait to see what happens when he actually does fight. We might not be able to see him, but I know John Cena will be seen (that was a pun, by the way) and John Cena is more WWE than The Rock because he actually comes and gives his all while he’s there.

Alberto Del Rio, um I’m not even going there. He needs to donate one of his cars to someone who doesn’t have them and he needs to just die. Someone should beat his ass and never let him back on the show ever. His assistant is more pleasant to watch than he is. Alberto Del Rio, blah.
And one last note, I would just really love to see someone, ANYONE, pull out C. M. Punk’s lip ring. I would love it.

Thank you for reading. If I forgot anything, I’m sorry. Leave me some comments and I’ll give my input on anything.

Quick Observations From the Chamber/RAW

I just wanted to post some observations and opinions from both the Chamber PPV and the following RAW. I will preface the observations by saying that the PPV was predictable but served it's purpose. I will also say that RAW, to me, was a disappointment on most accounts.

Chamber Observations:

I missed the Del Rio/Kingston match. I heard i didn't miss much except Del Rio showing a mean streak. Good for him. He needs to be built up somehow to where people care that he is going to Wrestlemania.

Justin Gabriel looked excellent in his match against the tag team champions Santino and Koslov. He is the Shawn Michaels of the team. Unfortunately for Heath Slater, he's the Marty Jannetty.

Hi Trish. Nice try in heels. Better luck next time.

Rey Mysterio looked 10 years younger in the Smackdown Elimination Chamber. He carried that match. Excellent spot where Kane goes for the Tombstone on Rey and Edge hits a double spear.

Need a reason to watch Smackdown? I know i do. Christian's return at the chamber will help. Especially if they plan to use him as a main eventer.

Is there a better heel in the business than C.M. Punk? Not only is he probably the best wrestler on either roster, but he also plays his character the best. The spot with the pod door not opening, whether intentional or not, totally worked because he sold it.

John Morrison is such a star. He did an amazing job in the RAW Elimination Match and hit some unbelievable high spots during the match. We knew he didn't have a chance, but that didn't stop him from stealing the show.

Did anyone honestly care about The Miz VS Lawler? I didn't. We knew Lawler wasn't going to win. Why would they give him the belt now? The unfortunate passing of his mother added to the storyline but there was still no hope. It was all just to set up a match with Cole or Riley to give King his Wrestlemania moment. Still... who cares?

It's time for The Miz to drop the title. I don't care if it's to Cena but it has to happen. I care less about the champion on RAW and more about what C.M. Punk or John Cena are going to do. Even Randy Orton carries more interest to me than The Miz right now. That's saying something considering Orton doesn't really do... anything.

RAW Observations:

One week ago, the most electrifying man in entertainment returns to the ring after 7 long years, blows everyone away with the best promo in years, promises us he will never leave the fans again... and then doesn't show up to RAW the next week. Nice.

2-21-11 came and went. Yes, it was just The Undertaker. Yes, it was cool to see HHH come back. It'll be an interesting enough match at Wrestlemania. But, two of the best wrestlers on the mic come back in the same night and are scheduled to fight each other and don't say a word? They have a 10 minute staring contest? Fail.

I love Josh Matthews on RAW.

Cole/Lawler feud is good. It would be excellent if Cole wasn't the main commentator for RAW because his fan boy antics are getting old. Time for Cole to be a character and for Josh Matthews to take over. OR bring JR back. I'm fine with that too.

John Cena's rap was refreshing to see. Unfortunately, it's a one time only deal. I like Cena with more attitude.

WWE actually got the main event right. I was worried they were going to let The Miz and Cena keep the belts. I enjoyed how it all played out.

It did, however, make the Corre look week though. Also, aren't they equals and individuals? Why do they escort each other to the ring? Also, why is it advertised as "Wade Barrett and The Corre" in commercials and ads when they clearly stated they don't have a leader? Nothing like a little consistency.

That's it. If i didn't comment on anything it's because i didn't find it memorable. I was unsurprised with the PPV and disappointed in RAW. It's nice to see the stars coming back but it's time for some real angles. It's time for characters to be built, feuds to escalate and matches to mean something.

Make me care, WWE. I'm sick of doing it myself.

Elimination Chamber Predictions

WWE's Elimination Chamber PPV is tonight so i figured i would dispense some wrestling genius just hours before the PPV begins. I'll predict each match for you and tell you how i made my choices. Think you can keep up?

Santino Marella & Vladimir Kozlov(c) VS. Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel (Tag Team Championships):

Who would have thought the Cobra would be so over. Sometimes the simplest things get you the biggest bang. Anyways, these teams have been going at each other recently. I doubt it will be a long match but it will be useful as Santino brings a lot of fun and energy to the ring and, therefore, to the PPV. I think the Corre gets some gold here with Slater and Gabriel picking up the win. It could set up Marella and Koslov chasing into Wrestlemania. But I think it could produce more heat for The Corre VS. Nexus battle that's been eluded to in the past.

Kofi Kingston(c) VS. Alberto Del Rio (Non Title):

This will definitely be an entertaining bout as both wrestlers have the ability to go at a pretty high level. I am not a huge fan of Kofi but he has brought it as of late. The Royal Rumble winner, Del Rio, will need some momentum going into his Wrestlemania main event. It will be a very close bout with Tequila JBL getting the win over the IC champion without making Kofi look bad and still giving Del Rio that credibility and momentum he needs. As much as i hate to say it, I am looking forward to this one.

The Miz(c) VS Jerry Lawler (World Heavyweight Championship):

So... yeah. Really? I get that this is a setup for The King to finally get his Wrestlemania moment. I respect The King and agree that he deserves one after all he does. But do you honestly think, especially at this point in time, that the WWE would put the belt on a 61 year old color commentator? There is a difference between genius and insanity. Hopefully Vince McMahon understands that. The match will unfortunately be close but it will serve it's purpose. Someone will cost king the match whether it be Alex Riley or Michael Cole. That will set up The King VS. whoever screws him over at Wrestlemania. Maybe even Ted DiBiase? That's an outside shot.

Edge(c) VS. Kane VS. Wade Barrett VS. Rey Mysterio VS. Drew McIntyre VS. ??? (WWE Championship):

So, Ziggler got fired on the 600th episode off Smackdown. Who takes his place? I don't see it being The Undertaker with all his hype for Monday. I could see the Big Show taking the spot considering he carried Dolph Ziggler out at the end of Smackdown. I can also see Ziggler somehow getting reinstated back into the match somehow. Either way, it doesn't matter. Dolph Ziggler nor his replacement will win the match. Dolph has had his time and he'll have it again but Wrestlemania's main event is not a stage he is ready for yet. Drew McIntyre is the R-Truth of this chamber match. He'll be a non-factor. Kane is only really in the match because of his recent title run. He may have some impact but he surely won't win. Wade Barrett is gaining momentum. I have a lot of respect for Barrett and his work thus far. He came in as a rookie and was the center piece for one of the best and most dominant factions in wrestling in quite some time. That being said, sorry Wade. Not today. Rey Mysterio will provide some entertaining high spots during the contest and will be a huge fan favorite in the match. I still think he will come up short (pun?). When it's all said and done, The Rated R Superstar, Edge, will retain his title and defend against Alberto Del Rio a Wrestlemania.

John Cena VS. C.M. Punk VS. Randy Orton VS. R-Truth VS. John Morrison VS. Sheamus (#1 Contender for World Title):

I'll  be surprised if R-Truth even makes it into the chamber to participate. With being said, he has 0 chance of winning this match. That's "What's up." Sheamus will not win the match because he is going to have to start his  angle with HHH leading into Wrestlemania. Wonderful. But it least it keeps both of them out of the main event. Randy Orton and C.M. Punk will find ways to eliminate each other. With this angle brewing the way it's been, neither of them will move on to face The Miz at Wrestlemania. John Morrison may be the highlight of the night again tonight. This match can feature his entire skill set and i think he will be a focal point of the match. If everything goes as planned, Morrison will look great coming out of the Chamber match... but he won't be the winner. John Cena will walk out of the Elimination Chamber and headline Wrestlemania against The Miz. The Rock will be involved in that match in some form or fashion.

So, there you have it. What do you think? Leave a comment or join us on Facebook and talk a little wrestling.  Who knows... you may actually get to talk to a Wrestling Genius.

Hope i didn't spoil the show for you...

A Less "Rocky" Road to Wrestlemania

So, were you surprised on Monday? Surprised... not excited. There's a difference. If you were surprised then that's unfortunate. It's unfortunate because that means you didn't believe me. You didn't follow my logic as to why The Rock was the best choice to host Wrestlemania. You didn't see what i saw when i said that The Rock brings more publicity to Wrestlemania than just wrestling fans, followers and writers. He is arguably one of the most popular wrestlers EVER in the wrestling industry. In addition, he has eclipsed that popularity with his success in Hollywood. Now, not just "Sports Entertainment" media, but ALL entertainment medias will be covering Wrestlemania. It's already started with ET getting involved. It's what the WWE needed. Hell, it's what wrestling as a whole needed. Monday was exciting to remember what used to be with The Rock and to look forward to what he will do. We're still six weeks away from Wrestlemania. That's a lot of Rocky from now until then.

Exciting? Absolutely. But i am insulted if you were surprised. "The Wrestling Genius" isn't just a gimmick. Next time, you'll know better.

He doesn't have to wrestle to make an impact. He'll get involved, sure. But he won't have a match at Wrestlemania or RAW or anywhere else. His wrestling days are done. That doesn't really matter though. That's not The Rock's expertise. He is a master on the microphone and he proved that on RAW. He has been gone 7 years from the wrestling business. 7 years away from live television. There was no rust, no hesitation and no uncomfortability. He proved why he was able to carry the company so long ago and why he is able to instill life back into a mundane and boring product that's currently being offered to the fans. In one night, after 7 years, The Rock made every wrestler on the current roster look terrible on the mic. I know John Cena, the Miz and CM Punk are great on the mic. Cena has the ability to improvise very well. Punk is very methodical in his deliveries. The Miz is starting to sound like a broken record now, but he is still strong with the mic. However, are they 10's because the rest of the wrestlers are 5's? We had a saying where i used to work: "Don't make a 5 an 8 just because of the environment." The same rings true with the current talent pool in the WWE.

The Rock is a legitimate 10. He was on the mic for 25 minutes. HE was the main event of Raw. No one cared that there was no main event match. Why would they? Why would they want to see another tag team main event of Cena and Orton vs Punk and the Miz? How many times can the fans care that Alex Riley won another match for The Miz or that Orton had to fight off all of Nexus again? The best part of RAW was the main event... and it wasn't a wrestling match. This ties back to my previous blog about a lack of talented wrestlers and main-eventers.

The Rock made some comments and promises that were surprising. He called out The Miz and, to my surprise, John Cena. I expect Cena to win the Elimination Chamber and go on to fight The Miz at Wrestlemania for the title. I also expect the Rock to involve himself in that match somehow. He will probably be the guest referee or special enforcer for the match and be a major factor in the outcome. I think he will finally stop Alex Riley from protecting The Miz's title and Cena will be crowned champion. The Rock also said that he would never leave again. Those are pretty strong words after leaving and never returning for 7 long years. I doubt he will stick around forever like he said but they could develop an on-air role for him on either show. I don't have a prediction on that as of yet, but an obvious choice could be the GM position on Raw.

I do hope that The Rock can bring back some of the "Attitude Era." This PG garbage has got to go. I don't want to read John Cena tweeting because he said the word ass, damn or shit. This is wrestling and it's not traditional. Punches are thrown. Blood is spilled. It's physical and barbaric. I don't want to watch the participants apologize because they said shit instead of crap. You don't see the UFC guys apologizing when they swear. Most cartoons and movies have more graphic content than a full contact, physical event like a wrestling match. What's wrong with people? It's okay to watch Family Guy or South Park but if John Cena says ass it's the end of the world? Please. John Cena used to rap promos about oral sex among other things. You may be shocked or offended when he first says it but next week you'll forget and cheer like a mindless zombie again. Just like the rest of us.

Oh... the new 2-21-11 video aired. Doesn't everyone feel silly for saying it's Sting. Well, not everyone. I don't. Like i said last week... It's just The Undertaker. The video is at the end of the blog if you missed it.

So, what have we learned today?

1. The Rock is a 10. Especially in this era of wrestling.
2. Attitude Era > *
3. Listening to me will raise your wrestling IQ.
4. I told you so.

2-21-11 and Wrestlemania Host speculation

Buzz, buzz, buzz. The wrestling internet world is buzzing over 2-21-11 and the Wrestlemania host that is being announced next week. Let's take a look at both of the situations individually... and maybe even logically. The rumor mongers are losing their minds.

The 2-21-11 video that aired is something the WWE hasn't done in a long time. It was put together well by the WWE and received well by the fans. The internet is swirling with speculation as to which star could be returning or coming to the WWE for the "Road to Wrestlemania." Unfortunately, the fans are letting their imaginations get out of control. Actually, most of the internet seems convinced that the video is announcing that Sting is coming to the WWE. And, like most of the time, the internet fans... fail. I've even heard that some people think it marks the return of Chris Jericho. That makes total sense since we all know Jericho's love for darkness and trench coats. Jericho has had a contract on the table from the WWE for him since September. He has been touring with Fozzy and just put out a book called "Undisputed" (which almost made the best sellers list just in presales). The fans are starting to get more outrageous than some of the WWE storylines. At any rate, the obvious choice is The Undertaker. I know, I know... obvious is boring. But seriously, who else would have a video like this? His return is normally marked with some type of hype and i would expect this one to be no different. It's Wrestlemania, folks. The Undertaker has to be there to defend his precious streak. A streak, by the way, that will never be broken. In addition, the WWE has already announced that the Undertaker WILL be returning at the 2-21-11 show. It's confirmed. So... why do fans continue to speculate it's someone else? Hope? I want or need for something newer? Something more exciting?

Sorry. It's just the Undertaker.

Now we move from one rumor hot bed to the next. The Wrestlemania host. I've heard all sorts of names dropped. Aaron Rodgers, Donald Trump, Stone Cold, Shawn Michaels, Vince McMahon and The Anonymous Raw General Manager just to name a few. I would love to find out who the Raw GM is but i have a feeling the WWE doesn't even have that answer yet. There are some crazy names being posted out there as well that i won't even get into. Absurdity. Stone Cold or HBK are more obvious choices. Vince McMahon promoting himself is also an obvious (funny) choice. Basically, it has to be a wrestler or celebrity that is a face. Personally, i would love it if it did spark a Chris Jericho return as a face but there's a better chance of Sting showing up on 2-21-11 than "The Lionheart" hosting Wrestlemania.

So who do I think is the host? I'm going to go with The Rock. He loves the WWE still. He has made some "successful" movies and is still a WWE name even though he has been gone for years. He also just recently did an interview and stated that he would love to return to the WWE... in a non-wrestling role, of course. What better role than the special guest host of the biggest stage of them all, Wrestlemania. He has eclipsed his WWE popularity with his Hollywood success. This makes him a celebrity in Vince's eyes which will draw more attention to Wrestlemania than by just having a Hall of Fame wrestler return to do it. He is recognizable and charismatic. He is my choice and probably the best choice for Wrestlemania's guest host.

I could be wrong. Sting could be the 2-21-11 surprise and Snoop Dogg could host Wrestlemania.

But I doubt it.

Who's in the main event again?

With the Royal Rumble and the following night's RAW behind us, the WWE has begun to pave the "Road to Wrestlemania." I must say, however, that it might be a rocky road to smooth over. The main reason I say that is because the WWE is lacking star power now more than it ever has in the past. When i bring this topic up, most people tell me it's because of injuries and wrestlers retiring. But who all is injured? The Undertaker and Triple H come to mind... but that's it for the main eventers.. Christian and Evan Bourne are a far cry from main eventing even though they are both very valuable to the company. Who retired? Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair are all i can think of. Shawn Michaels can never be replaced as a performer. I don't even think that's really a discussion.

So who does the WWE have as legitimate main eventers? On Raw, i see Randy Orton, John Cena, The Miz and CM Punk. On the outside looking in are John Morrison and Sheamus. I doubt either of those guys will be called legitimate main eventers again. On the Smackdown side, i see Edge, Dolph Ziggler, Rey Mysterio and Alberto Del Rio now. I would say that Kane, The Big Show and Wade Barrett are sufficient plug-ins when necessary. Of all of those names, Edge, Alberto Del Rio, John Cena, The Miz and CM Punk arguably have the best mic skills. But seriously, this is the list of main eventers and mid card stars. Remember when Wrestlemania had blockbuster matches? Remember when great wrestlers were held off the card because of time constraints? They actually had too many good matches that some couldn't be added to the card. That's definitely not a problem in this era.

So what happened? Where did the star power go? Chris Jericho took his normal time off to tour with Fozzy and recharge his batteries. Yes, The Undertaker and HHH are injured which definitely hurts the main event. Booker T, Kurt Angle, Jeff Hardy and RVD all went to TNA. I understand the last 2 had additional baggage that helped in their departure from the WWE. However, these are major names that weren't able to be replaced. And the main reason for that? A diminishing pool of talent to choose from. Jim Ross has even mentioned this a few times on his blog (jrsbarbq.com). The WWE has done the best it can with the talent that's available. However, very few pushes to the main event seem to work out. Jim Morrison, MVP, Sheamus to a point, Jack Swagger and Ted DiBiase have all had opportunities at one point or another to main event. None of them are main eventers now.The jury is still out on Wade Barrett. I get a beer and nachos when Sheamus comes out.

Only 3 wrestlers seem to have taken advantage of their main event opportunities. The Miz, CM Punk and to a lesser extent so far... Dolph Ziggler. CM Punk and The Miz are legit. They are here to stay. I hope Dolph Ziggler can keep going. He has tremendous energy in the ring. Will Alberto Del Rio take advantage? He is being given an opportunity to not just main event... but to main event Wrestlemania. He gets this opportunity basically on faith and hope. He has decent in-ring ability from what I've seen so far and has very strong mic skills. However, does that make him ready for the main event at Wrestlemania? And can he and the WWE make the fans care that he is going to be there?

The weight on his shoulders is monumental. Let's see if he is up for it. Let's see if Del Rio can be one of the few success stories in recent WWE memory.

The Royal Rumble

The Royal Rumble is arguably the most exciting PPV the WWE puts on every year. Yeah, I know it's not Wrestlemania. But it's unique. It's not a match. It's survival. Beyond that, it's very hard to predict. Especially this year with 40 wrestlers entering instead of the usual 30. Yeah, i know Cody Rhodes and Kofi Kingston are not going to win the Rumble. But they could still have an impact.

Unfortunately, for me, I am going to try and predict the Rumble. Like i said, it's not an easy task to begin with and this year makes it more difficult. Does the WWE stick with an established main-eventer to headline Wrestlemania? Do they propel wrestlers like John Morrison or Alberto Del Rio into the spotlight? Does someone return like Cena did a few years back and blindside everyone?

Normally, the Royal Rumble winner is not currently feuding with anyone. They have just completed a feud or have a history with the champion planned for Wrestlemania. That makes a returning wrestler a strong candidate to win. HHH? Christian? The Undertaker? But, at the same time, the WWE has been utilizing younger wrestlers more. Guys like The Miz and Dolph Ziggler are in the main event. Alberto Del Rio and John Morrison are in the middle of huge pushes. This year's Rumble may be the hardest to predict yet.

This is what i have come up with.

Here are my top 5 choices for the Royal Rumble Winner:

1. C.M. Punk:

I know above i stated that the winner of the Royal Rumble is normally not involved in a feud. I also know that Punk is really involved in 2 feuds. However, he is a bonafide main eventer, is the leader of the hottest faction in the WWE and has his stable ready to sacrifice themselves in order for him to win. He is a 3 time champ, has held multiple belts and has never won the Royal Rumble. He is also everything the WWE is now looking for in a champion. I may be letting my bias get the best of me, but i see him as the favorite.

2. Alberto Del Rio:

Let me first start by saying I am not a fan of Del Rio at all. I think he has JBL's angle mixed with tequila. But what I like doesn't matter. Vince McMahon loves this guy. He also generates a lot of heat for not being too well known outside of Smackdown. The WWE pushed Del Rio more than any other wrestler up to the Royal Rumble with having him on both RAW and Smackdown for absolutely no reason at all. I don't believe it's his "destiny" but i think his mic skills and in ring skills are "good enough" by WWE standards to evenutally land him in the main event. The Rumble might be the best way to do that.

3. HHH:

Could the Rumble be a great welcome back party for HHH? Maybe... we saw it work out well for John Cena a few years back. It seems obvious that HHH will feud with Sheamus when HHH does return, but that doesn't rule out a Wrestlemania main event slot for Hunter. He is the second biggest draw for the WWE outside of John Cena and, let's face it, the WWE is lacking in star power right now. I could see him return, eliminate Sheamus immediately, win the Rumble, and then handle Sheamus for the next month before the heat really turns up for Wrestlemania. That's a lot of "if's" though... the biggest one being "if" he even returns at all.

4. John Cena:

It's almost impossible not to pick the biggest star in the business today. I don't necessarily see it happening, but again, he is a favorite going into every event. If he doesn't win, it will be because of The Corre and Nexus. The same could be said if he does win. The Corre and Nexus could very well take care of each other before Cena hits the ring. It's all a long shot and Cena will be at Wrestlemania no matter what. Cena losing the Rumble would have no consequences for the WWE.

5. The Miz:

Stay with me. Let's say The Miz doesn't get the job done against Randy Orton. We've seen the WWE pull some crazy swerves with Money in the Bank and with Hell in a Cell matches. Who better to swerve with than The Miz. One of the most despised characters the WWE has currently. He is the new Edge... forever the opportunist. I know it's a long shot, but maybe not as big of a long shot as people may think. It will depend on how the championship matches pan out. Randy Orton's name could just as easily be in this spot.

Runner Up: John Morrison:

John Morrison is proof that if you don't have strong mic skills, you can't be a champion. He has the goods: the look, the style, the arrogance, the in ring ability, the fans... but he is not as good as he should be on the mic. And that is the ONLY thing holding him back. He has improved everything else about his character and wrestling ability including limiting the high spots. He will make a good showing at the Rumble, don't get me wrong. I do expect to see him in the final 10 and maybe even the final 5. This year could have been Morrison's year... he just didn't know how to tell us.
